Cohort 1 of our Generative AI Skills Bootcamp, delivered in partnership with Yeovil College, is now well underway, having started on 4th November 2024. Learners are already applying the skills they’ve gained to their day-to-day activities, showcasing how Generative AI can streamline tasks, enhance productivity, and drive business growth. This exciting progress highlights the real-world impact of the training and the transformative potential of AI in both personal and professional contexts.

Building on the success of Cohort 1, we’re thrilled to announce that Cohort 2 is now open for bookings! The course will officially begin on 15th January 2025, with inductions starting from 10th December 2024 to ensure participants are fully prepared to embark on this transformative journey.

This government-backed Generative AI Skills Bootcamp has been designed to help businesses and individuals harness the power of artificial intelligence. It builds on our ongoing relationship with Yeovil College, where we’ve collaborated closely at the Digital Hub and provided CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training to their faculty.

What is a Skills Bootcamp?

Skills Bootcamps at Yeovil College are flexible, government-funded courses designed to equip adults with in-demand digital and technical skills. They typically last up to 16 weeks and cater to individuals aged 19+ as well as employers seeking to up-skill staff. Yeovil College offers a variety of Skills Bootcamps, including digital marketing, leadership, engineering, and electric vehicle technology, with more being developed. These Skills Bootcamps are co-designed with employers to address skill shortages and ensure graduates have the skills necessary for career progression. Participants benefit from practical learning and employment opportunities upon completion.

What You’ll Learn

Over the 10-week Generative AI Skills Bootcamp, you’ll dive deep into AI’s transformative potential for businesses. Weeks 1 & 2 will introduce you to the history and basics of AI, covering its evolution, how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work, and common AI tools such as DALL-E, MidJourney, and Copilot. You’ll also explore ethical and security considerations around AI usage, with hands-on exercises that showcase AI applications for personal use, like meal planning, image creation, and content generation, improving your own CV, and prepping to give and attend interviews.

In Weeks 3 & 4, you’ll shift focus to AI in business, learning how to integrate AI into your strategies, identify growth opportunities, and overcome challenges. You’ll master the art of prompt engineering, crafting prompts that effectively guide AI to produce specific outcomes. Practical exercises will allow you to build a portfolio of prompts tailored to your business needs.

Weeks 5 & 6 feature an exciting Prompt-a-thon, where you’ll put your prompt-crafting skills to the test in real-world scenarios, driving efficiencies in tasks like marketing, customer segmentation, and report generation. This will then be followed by more practical sessions where you’ll apply AI in business processes like marketing, document summarisation, and data analysis. You’ll gain hands-on experience in using AI to streamline workflows, with detailed case studies showing successful AI implementations across various industries.

By Weeks 7 & 8, you’ll focus on your business, applying all you have learnt to the needs of your business and creating a comprehensive AI-driven business transformation plan. You’ll create business flow and process diagrams, assess the impact of AI on business performance, explore effective collaboration strategies, and learn how to integrate AI solutions into existing systems. During this time, you’ll develop a roadmap for AI adoption that aligns with your business goals and creates measurable results.

Finally, in Weeks 9 & 10 you'll present your AI-driven business plan, refining it with feedback from peers and instructors. This section will also cover emerging trends and future directions in AI for business, ensuring you stay ahead of the curve.

All in all, by the end of this 10-week bootcamp, you’ll have gained the knowledge and practical skills necessary to fully leverage Generative AI in your business, setting you up for success in your career and enabling you to drive innovation, efficiency, and growth.

  • Subject Matter and Outcome: Throughout this immersive bootcamp, you’ll dive into the power of Generative AI, learning to harness it for automation, business applications, and much more. By the end of the course, you’ll be proficient in leveraging Generative AI to enhance your business’s efficiency, streamline processes, and drive innovation.

Exciting News! Due to the overwhelming interest in our Generative AI Skills Bootcamp, we’re accepting registration for a second cohort in January 2025. Inductions are in December so don't miss out!

Course Cost - usually £3,499

  • SMEs: Thanks to government funding, small and medium-sized businesses can benefit from a 90% funding support, reducing your cost to just £349.90.

  • Larger Companies (250+ employees): For larger organisations, you’ll pay only £1,049.70 after 70% funding from the government.

  • If you are Self-employed, the Skills Bootcamp could be fully funded. You will have to be aged 19+, have the right to live and work in the UK. You must agree to provide mandatory personal data and supplementary information on their employment outcomes for up to 6 months following completion of the Skills Bootcamp Agree to complete a Business Action Plan to support growth of your business. Finally, you must meet the requirements and/or prerequisites for the specific Skills Bootcamp.

Upon successfully completing the course, you’ll receive 3 hours of personalised 1:1 implementation support at your business from Techosaurus. This tailored advice is available for up to 3 months after course completion, ensuring you can apply your new AI skills in real-world scenarios with confidence, helping you achieve tangible, impactful results.

  • Employment Status: The course is suitable for those who are employed, self-employed, unemployed, or returning to work. This particular programme has been designed to upskill individuals within their current roles and responsibilities to embed new skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Computer Skills: Learners should be competent computer users with daily experience using the internet and productivity tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They should be comfortable saving files and participating in online meetings. This course is not intended for those who need basic computer skills support..
  • Prior AI Knowledge: No prior knowledge of AI is required; the course will cover foundational concepts.

  • Curiosity and Eagerness to Learn: Ideal for individuals open to new ideas and eager to explore new technologies.
  • Career Advancement: Suitable for learners looking to upskill for their current job or transition into a new role.

Technical Requirements & Expectations

ChatGPT Subscription:

We recommend that you have your own paid ChatGPT subscription. However, if you don’t have one, we’ll provide access to a paid account during the course. Please note, access will be revoked after course completion. Having your own subscription allows continued access to history and any custom GPTs you create. Subscriptions are available from £18 per month and offer advantages such as:

  • Storing message threads for later use
  • No rate limits, ensuring uninterrupted access
  • Advanced features, including image creation and voice interaction
  • Ability to create custom GPTs for tailored learning

Office 365 Account:

You’ll have access to a Yeovil College-supplied Office 365 account for the duration of the course, which includes:

  • Outlook for communication
  • Office Online (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for productivity tasks
  • Teams for virtual meetings and collaboration
  • OneDrive for file storage and access to recordings

Hardware:

You’ll need a laptop that meets the following specifications:

  • Operating System: Windows 10/11 or macOS 10.15 or higher
  • RAM: At least 8GB for smooth operation
  • Power: Bring chargers, as laptops will be used throughout the day
  • Condition: Ensure the laptop is in good working order with reliable wireless connectivity

If you can’t provide a laptop, we’ll loan one for use during class. These devices must be returned at the end of each session.

Additional Peripherals:

Keyboards and mice will be available upon request, particularly for learners with specific needs such as RSI. Headphones with a built-in microphone are required for interactive sessions and virtual meetings. These will be available but if you have your own please bring them and and any necessary adapters for connection with your laptop.

Software & Applications:

You’ll need an up-to-date web browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, for accessing online platforms and tools.

Resources:

While not required, we recommend bringing a notepad and writing equipment for taking notes, designing, and jotting down ideas or inspiration throughout the course.
